Making a Difference Through Meaningful Service Work
I aspire to continue serving those in need, inspired by my family's commitment to mission trips. Growing up, I watched relatives dedicate their time to help the less fortunate, and this practice instilled in me a desire to pursue similar efforts. Whether we are born rich or born poor, everyone has just 24 hours in their day. Choosing to assist those in need has continuously been one of the most impactful uses of my time and I hope to continue to find moments when I can help less fortunate people.

Mission To Serve Through Church
My very first experience serving away from home was when I volunteered at the North Carolina School for the Deaf in Morganton North Carolina. I was excited to help in any way needed as I was with my youth church group. We worked tirelessly from morning to late afternoon, despite the challenging summer heat and heavy lifting in areas without air conditioning. The experience was rewarding, and I was grateful to be part of it.

Mission To Serve Through School
In high school, I joined a mission trip to Kalamazoo, Michigan, called Community Builders for Peace. Selected through an application process from three Nazarene schools, we completed service tasks in the community, including working in soup kitchens and with Habitat for Humanity. As the only male applicant, I was proud to contribute, understanding that my efforts could lift the spirits of those in need and give alternative perspective on issues.

Mission To Serve Through Class
In college, I took a course requiring service hours and volunteered at a domestic abuse shelter. Over a semester, I served 24 hours, preparing meals, cleaning shared spaces, and helping set up a Christmas celebration. My favorite memory was decorating a Christmas tree with the children and seeing their joy. The shelter provided refuge for mothers and children from abusive situations, and I aimed to show kindness and compassion in my role. This experience was deeply touching, and I felt honored to uplift the spirits of the residents through my service.
