Past Employment Journey:
From Learning to Leading

Growing up I held several different jobs with various roles and objectives. Each venture taught me valuable lessons and skills that I applied both at work and in other aspects of life. Whether I was selling goods or providing services to clients, I had valuable experiences in each of the environments that I worked in.

My Roles

2023
Finance / Accounting Intern

The summer before my senior year of college, I interned with Benefit Plan Administrators in Eau Claire, WI, in their Finance & Accounting department. This experience was invaluable, thanks to the firm’s excellent culture and supportive bosses. They provided guidance and allowed me to learn through trial and error. I gradually took on tasks to lighten their workload and participated in weekly accounting meetings, gaining insights into the firm's projects and goals. A key lesson I learned was to set aside expectations and fully embrace each situation, allowing me to absorb more knowledge and understand the significance of daily tasks and practices.

2022

Production Operator

One work opportunity that I had was at my family’s business, R. Popernik Co., which manufactures packaging for local tortilla and paletaria businesses. This job was unique as all my superiors were family, yet I remained committed to working as diligently as any other employee. I worked from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, gaining valuable insight into factory operations and honoring the legacy of the company founded by my late grandfather. My responsibilities included operating production equipment, taking inventory, and moving completed jobs to the loading bay for pickup. Working at R. Popernik Co. was a special experience that filled me with pride.

2018-2019

Shift Supervisor

For several seasons, I worked at a popular local snow cone shop, often handling long lines of customers. My attention to detail was appreciated by both management and clients. I learned that efficiency and consistency were key to keeping customers returning. By the end of my first summer, I was promoted to supervisor, responsible for opening and closing the shop, handling money, training new employees, and managing customer needs and various situations.

2015-2017

Golf Caddy

Starting work at age 14 as a caddy at a local country club in the summer of 2015 was a transformative experience. The 5:30 AM starts taught me the value of consistency and a structured schedule. Arriving early ensured I was among the first in line, giving me more opportunities to work and earn money. Over time, my reputation grew, and I was trusted by golfers for advice, especially during tournaments or adverse weather. Through this job, I learned to appreciate hard-earned money and the importance of dedication. This experience instilled in me the lesson that consistent effort and focus can lead to promotions and greater opportunities, a principle I've applied throughout my life.
